Soaring to New Heights Our
team of artists will transform the three exterior wall spaces of the designated
area of the kindergarten wing of Harvard Elementary School into a visual
exploration of the air, land and water.
“Soaring to New Heights”, a series of murals will be produced
within the designated outdoor area to create the illusions of various real and
imaginary outdoor landscapes. Within
these three scenes we propose to incorporate actual children from Harvard
Elementary School within the mural. This
would require posing and photographing a selected number of children from
Harvard as subjects for the mural. With consent from each child’s parent(s) or
guardian(s) we would pose the children in various flying gestures.
Children will rest on a stool with their arms and legs stretched in the
air while our photographer photographs the children from below, creating a
worm’s eye view of the flying child. As seen in the enclosed photographs, the children can be
positioned to create the illusion that they are actually flying and we will
place these flying figures throughout the three murals along with other flying
creatures and machines. Envision
colorful parrots flying over a lush green jungle scene with gleaming children
soaring through the air. How about kids flying through a galaxy of stars and
planets in a scene of the magnificent universe? Visualize a 9’x13’ wall painted with the illusion of
children flying over an ocean of water full of fish and other aquatic life forms
of all shapes, sizes, colors, and species? These
are but a small example of the wonders and beauty that we are willing to produce
and create for the children, parents and visitors that will visit the school
daily. This public artwork will be an inspiration for generations to come.
