  Buckboard Park

Buckboard Park is a public/private collaboration between the Greenspoint Redevelopment Authority, Knudson & Associates and the Museum of Cultural Arts Houston (MOCAH). MOCAH is designing several public art elements for the new public part that will be located in the Greenspoint area of Houston. The park will feature a walking trail, playground area, several artistic enhancements by MOCAH and sculptor Eric Ober. One phase of MOCAH’s creative contributions to the park entails (8) ceramic tile mosaic medallions that will be inlayed in the sidewalk throughout the park.

High School students from Yes Prep have assisted Reginald Adams, lead artists and Jessica DeAlba, artists’ assistant in the design and production of (8) colorful ceramic creatures. The designs range from 2 to 4 feet in diameter. Check out the video to see the artists at work.

The second phase of MOCAH’s work entails a 30’ long mosaic caterpillar. The caterpillar is currently being designed and fabricated and will be ready for mosaics in the early spring. Check back with us to view the work in progress.

First Annual MOCAH Public Art Campaign (MPAC)

The Museum of Cultural Arts Houston (MOCAH) is excited to announce the First Annual MOCAH Public Art Campaign (MPAC). This year, the MPAC theme, Community History: Taking a Closer Look, supports multi-disciplinary educational strategies that educate and expose students to the history and cultural heritage of their community through the research, design and production of community murals.

This year's MPAC theme, Community History: Taking a Closer Look, will educate and empower youth to become artists and historic preservationists in their own communities by researching, designing and creating a community mural with an emphasis on celebrating the community’s local history.
